Neal Martin, December 2021, Score: 90-92
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru is the one cuvée that is more confit on the nose, missing the delineation of other cuvées from Grivot, mulberry and cassis scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, candied entry, quite fleshy and ripe, fine acidity with vibrant red fruit towards the finish, a little heady but still pleasurable. Drink 2024 - 2038

Burghound, January 2022, Score: 91-94
Slightly riper aromas of black cherry, raspberry and earth are fresh if brooding. There is both excellent delineation and vibrancy suffusing the delicious medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a chalky, palate drenching and youthfully austere finish. Lovely and very Pruliers in character. Drink 2035+

Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 90-93
Amazingly deep dark colour with purple rim. There is a very powerful if slightly baked fruit here, definitely in the sun and perhaps wind dried cherry mode, drier tannins too and plenty of acidity. Teeters on the edge. Sugars rose rapidly just before picking, reaching 14.5%.
Region
Nuits Saint Georges
The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
