From the famed terra rossa soils of Coonawarra, Bin 128 is a sleek and sultry wine in 2023. Rich on the nose, with chocolate and licqourice, with some sleek red and black fruit and pepper, this is almost Northern Rhone like on the palate. Lovely weight and drive makes this very refreshing indeed, with lovely purity of fruit, this is very accomplished already.

  • Wine Advocate, August 2025, Score: 93

2023 was a challenging year in Coonawarra: it was wet, it was hot, it was wet, it was hot again. The Shiraz worked well, but the Cabernet Sauvignon not as well. The 2023 Bin 128 Coonawarra Shiraz has notes of blue fruits, dried mint, dusty cocoa powder with a little bitterness therein, alongside sweet black licorice. It's a lovely, mid-weight wine here, with length and detail. It matured for 12 months in French oak hogsheads (26% new, 39% one year old). 14.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. Drink Date: 2025 – 2043.

  • Matthew Jukes, August 2025, Score: 18

While Coonawarra’s Cabernet harvest in 2023 was well below par, Shiraz appears to have fared extremely well. Bin 128 is a perfect case in point, with a lovely, peppery, red-fruited whoosh of flavour that gives it a refreshing Northern Rhône twist. The French oak élévage heightens the spiciness, making Bin 128 a real treat!! Super-clean, vitally pure and downright delicious, this is a little star.

  • Jancis Robinson, August 2025, Score: 17

Blackish purple. Toasty, please-all nose. Sweet and fresh. Sleek and peppery with a dry finish. Should appeal to European palates. Long and lively! GV? Very wet and cool spring; generally warm summer but cooler, wetter weather returned throughout harvest. Shiraz ripens earlier than Cabernet, though, so was less badly affected. Aged for 12 months in French oak hogsheads (26% new, 39% one year old). TA 6.2 g/l, pH: 3.62. Drink 2026-2040.
