Breath of fresh air – Bordeaux that, dare we say it, is excellent value for money and will not require generations of patient cellaring. Two wines, tasted last week were utterly delectable and deserve solid recommendations. So, without further a do…
Château Sénéjac, Haut-Medoc, 2010
Alluring, deep granite red.
Striking star anise on the nose with a spice driven story to the very finish. Cassis fruit and spice – classic Bordeaux.
There is good structure and balance, the velvety tannins remain taut suggesting excellent potential, though this is a pleasure to drink even now.
Château Beaumont, Haut-Medoc, 2009
(available for sale next week)
Beautiful, rich red robe with some evolution.
Tobacco and spice on the nose. Intense though soft on the attack with round tannins.
Perfectly ready to drink. Leaving a trace of black pepper at the finish.
