An Italophile’s Cellar
Every so often, a cellar arrives that feels less like inventory and more like a remarkable collection of wine. This is one of those collections, built over more than twenty-five years with a deep focus on Italy. The collection moves through seven wine regions - Barbaresco, Barolo, Super Tuscans, Tuscany, Brunello, Chianti, and a final selection of the 'Best of the Rest' reading like a map of Italy’s greatest terroirs and its most storied hands.
There are growers followed faithfully across vintages that we return to: Bruno Giacosa, Roagna, Vietti, Azelia, and Fratelli Alessandria in the Langhe; Sesti, Salicutti, Canalicchio di Sopra, and Poggio di Sotto in Montalcino; Ornellaia and Tenuta San Guido in Tuscany, among a wider constellation of producers shaping some of Italy’s most expressive and pedigreed wines.
