Sugrue South Downs | England's very finest

The South Downs, stretching across Hampshire and Sussex, are defined by rolling chalk hills and distinctive soils that have become central to the development of English wine.

In 2008, after birds destroyed an entire vineyard’s crop just before harvest, Father Paul McMahon turned to winemaker Dermot Sugrue and remarked: “That’s the trouble with dreams.” Those words would inspire the name of one of England’s most celebrated sparkling wines: The Trouble with Dreams.

Today, Dermot Sugrue and his wife Ana are at the forefront of English winemaking. Drawing on years of experience and a deep understanding of chalk-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, they craft wines of precision, Burgundian character and remarkable depth.

We are delighted to present three wines from Sugrue South Downs: two exceptional traditional-method sparkling wines and a distinctive oak-aged Chardonnay, each reflecting just how far a dream can go.
