Château de Beaucastel & Coudoulet 2024

The Perrin family, who have biodynamically farmed the estate since 1974, describe the 2024 as a vintage of freshness and balance, shaped by careful vineyard work and a long harvest. Nicolas Greinacher of Vinous describes the flagship Châteauneuf-du-Pape as “full-bodied, concentrated and wholly elegant”, while Alistair Cooper MW highlights its “lovely density and weight”. The Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône is equally compelling, with Greinacher praising its “spot-on balance” and Cooper noting its combination of “elegance and power”.

The 2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is the white wine of the vintage. Fragrant chamomile, linden blossom, lemon flesh, jasmine and a trace of cedar are all pushed forward. Herbal tea adds even more complexity. Perfumed and refined, the full-bodied 2024 caresses the palate with impressive intensity and vibrancy, closing with a sleek saline touch on the long, focused finale.

Made from all very old Roussanne from a single parcel just behind the château, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape Roussanne Vieille Vignes offers a gorgeous nose of ripe quince, toasted bread, white flowers, spice, and crushed stone. Richer and fuller than the regular cuvée, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep, layered, opulent mouthfeel, beautifully integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's another heavenly white from this team that should have 20-30 years of longevity. Drink 2025-2054.
