Immediately south of Marsannay lies Fixin, more similar in style to Gevrey-Chambertin than Marsannay. Powerful, ageworthy and built for the long term, Fixin offers similar depth and longevity to Gevrey, but at a fraction of the price, though not quite the perfume or complexity of Burgundy’s finest.
Like Marsannay, Fixin’s vineyards sit on limestone with more clay than neighbouring Gevrey-Chambertin, producing some of the most structured wines in the northern Côte de Nuits. In youth, Fixin is firm, structured and concentrated. With time, tannins soften, wines gain elegance, and fruit shifts into baked berry crumble, sweet spice and the savoury depth of mature Pinot Noir.
