The 2007 really got rave reviews during the UGC week. With a stand out nose of rich fleshy fruitand a lush round palate, it was easy to see why.Two weeks later at the château, it displayed a bit more muscle and restraint but still showed lovely sweetness, excellent focus and a salty mineral finish. Based on the Jancis' and Wine Spectator notes, their samples were most likely not as freshor pure. As Johnny would say, This is a proper wine. Drink 2011-2020

  • Neal Martin, June 2017, Score: ?

Tasted at BI Wine Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Lynch Bages is a wine that has shown well on several occasions in the past. Unfortunately, on this occasion I was left scratching my head. This bottle felt a little raw on the nose, a little green juxtaposed against the 2007 Grand Puy Lacoste. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin and, again, is a little green with an attenuated raw finish. I will seek to re-taste this in the future. Tasted February 2017.

  • Robert Parker, August 2010, Score: 88

Delicious, supple and close to full maturity, the 2007 Lynch Bages exhibits a dark plum/purple color with some lightening at the edge along with tobacco leaf, bay leaf, black currant and earthy, loamy notes. Medium-bodied, supple and charming, it is best drunk over the next 7-8 years. Drink: 2011 - 2019

  • Robert Parker, April 2010, Score: 89

A big, fruity effort, the 2007 Lynch Bages offers lots of creme de cassis, damp earth, and subtle background oak. It is a deep, layered, lush, forward, evolved wine that will offer hedonistic drinking over the next decade. Drink: 2010 - 2020

Château Lynch-Bages

If any château in all of the classified growths consistently outperforms its original status, it is Lynch Bages. Indeed, this château has long been prized by Pauillac lovers who seek good value, yet well made wine. Region

Pauillac

Due south of St Estèphe lies the appellation of Pauillac, the king of Left Bank communes. It is home to three first growths as well as a plethora of other classified growths. Pauillac's renowned well-draining, gravelly soils enable its dominant grape Cabernet Sauvignon to reach fantastic heights of complexity and concentration. As a result, Pauilac's wines tend to be full-bodied with compact tannins and good freshness. Its aromatics are often what one associates with classic Bordeaux: pencil shavings, black currant and occasional mint. Some of the most famous châteaux of the commune are Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Pichon Baron, Pichon Lalande and Lynch Bages.
