Goedhuis, April 2010, Score: 89-92
A strongly structured Moulis, with very good depth of fruit. This is a very complete wine for mid-term ageing.

Neal Martin, March 2019, Score: 91
The 2009 Chasse-Spleen has a simple, earthy bouquet, a little dustiness at first although that soon dissipates with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly soft tannin on the entry, moderate depth, well-judged acidity with a sandalwood and tobacco infused finish that has a spring in its step. A very fine for Chasse-Spleen, although not my personal favourite vintage. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting.

Robert Parker, April 2010, Score: 90-92
The 2009 is the finest Chasse Spleen since the 1989. Its deep purple color is accompanied by notes of graphite, black currants, sweet spice, and a hint of Chinese black tea. Full-bodied and opulent with well-integrated acidity, tannin, wood, and alcohol, it is a lush beauty to enjoy over the next 20+ years. Drink: 2010 - 2030

Wine Spectator, April 2010, Score: 90-93
Subtle aromas of currant, spices and milk chocolate follow through to a full body, with a solid and polished core of tannins and a silky-textured finish.
Region
Médoc
The Médoc takes its name from the Latin phrase ‘medio aquae' (between the waters)- referring to the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a long, narrow vineyard area that stretches north-west from the city of Bordeaux along the left bank of the Gironde estuary. The water masses that surround the Médoc act as a heat-regulator and provide an ideal microclimate for viticulture. The well-draining gravel soil accentuates the near perfect growing conditions for the main grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Médoc is the most famous red wine making region in Bordeaux and possibly the world.
