  • Neal Martin, December 2021, Score: 95-97

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru, which contains 80% whole bunch and had not been racked, has a beautifully-defined bouquet with red and black fruit, undergrowth, hints of tobacco and pressed rose petals. Very focucsed. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, very harmonious with a pastille-like purity on the finish. Very classy and composed.

  • Burghound, April 2022, Score: 93-96

A restrained and intensely floral-suffused nose is reticent to the point of being brooding and only grudgingly provides glimpses of fresh dark berries and sauvage whiffs. The precise, highly energetic and tautly muscular flavors possess that wonderful sense of underlying tension that becomes even more apparent on the mineral-driven, youthfully austere and equally long finale. This is a classic and wonderfully promising Chambertin that in magnum format should age as long as anyone would reasonably care to wait. Don't miss! Drink 2042+

  • Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 93-96

Not racked. Fine heady mid purple, the sample is slightly more evolved, with weight and oak and depth, detail to follow. This is a sound rendition though of the majesty of Chambertin, and may well emerge to earn a higher rating. Magnums only.

Region

Chambertin

Gevrey Chambertin lies well to the north of the Cote de Nuits. It has no less than 9 grand cru vineyards and the most famous of these is Chambertin. Often considered the greatest of all red Burgundies for its complexity, power and intensity, Chambertin's fine wines are unsurprisingly rare and are priced accordingly. They also need years to develop to their full potential, but are undoubtedly worth the wait.
