  • Neal Martin, November, Score: 92-94

Raised with 20% whole bunches, the 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru showed a little reduction on the nose, but there seems to be plenty of concentration here. The medium-bodied palate offers ripe black fruit laced with orange rind and veins of dark chocolate, probably emanating from the 50% new oak. It's a solid Echézeaux that might lack a bit of flair, though it will mature well in bottle. Drink 2028-2044.

  • Julia Harding, January 2024, Score: 17+

15% whole bunches in this riper vintage. Cask sample. Mid-to-deep crimson. Reluctant to reveal much on the nose but, on the palate, the fruit is deep and generous. As with the Charmes-Chambertin, the tannins are polished. The whole is a little more savoury yet still refined and long. Drink 2029-2038.

  • LV, November 2023, Score: NR

This adds to the VR 1er Cru with more complexity. Really perfumed and polished, pure, layered nose. Some whole bunch adding an extra element of lift to the Echezeaux power. A warm gentle spice on the long finish and a lovely energy and class. Incredible Echezeaux.

The grapes are destemmed and while the wines see some oak, they maintain a signature pure, juicy style. Coquard Loison Fleurot remains fairly unknown outside of France (traditionally the domaine only sold its wine to local supermarkets) but word is spreading… Watch this space.Read less
