  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2026

A relatively deep colour for an Aussie Pinot, yet the nose is unmistakably New World in style. Rich and spicy with a subtle savoury edge, it’s packed with macerated strawberries, hints of white pepper, and ripe sweet cherries. Bright, lightly spritzy acidity, thanks to the limestone, keeps it lively and fresh, while still showing plenty of shape, structure, and drive. Enjoyable now and drinking beautifully straight out the gates, but also crafted to age gracefully, with polished tannins and generous ripe fruit.

  • Wine Front, October 2025, Score: 96

There are no seams and yet there is such complexity. Smoked cherries, earth, beet, cedar, twiggy herbs and red roses; all these characters contribute, all juicy and joyous, all though tightened by a fine web of tannin. There’s immense life on both the nose and on the palate but there’s drama reserved for the finish, which shows characters of rust, steel, earth, spice and smoke. It’s captivating. It’s lengthy. It’s exceptional.

Gary Farr and his son Nick make tiny quantities of world-class single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The father and son winemaking team at this small estate is an impressive one. Gary has been making wine since 1978 and was head winemaker for many years at Australia’s highly rated Bannockburn estate. They have both spent time working at Calera and Au Bon Climat in California and Cristom in Oregon and, between them, they have also worked over 30 vintages at Domaine Dujac, where Nick now does some consultancy. The Moorabool Valley in Victoria is a little paradise, perfectly suited to crafting cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Refreshing winds and bracing sea breezes regulate the long, sunny days and cool the night air. By Farr’s special patches of vineyard sit on ancient river deposits that offer up complex, mineral rich soils. The results are naturally balanced, evocatively perfumed, and intricately structured Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with a compelling sense of place.Read less
