  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

The Drouhin Laroze plot is one of the very best in this appellation, named after the place of worship, just below Chambertin Clos de Bèze and 0.53 hectares. 20% whole bunch has been used here to balance the higher proportion of new oak. Flavours of crushed redcurrants and raspberry bring refinement and lift to the cuvée, with a tonka bean note and very fine texture. The pretty and gentle nose belies the serious personality of wine with its never-ending finish and succulent, suede-like tannins. A spectacular Grand Cru.

  • Burghound, April 2026, Score: 90-93

(from a .52 ha parcel in En La Chapelle). Moderately generous wood stops short of fighting with the aromas of mostly spiced plum and violet. The rich, very generous and suave larger-scaled flavors display good power, size and weight on the lingering and lightly austere finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. Drink 2034.

  • JMO, November 2025, Score: 91-93

A bright ruby colour, greater density than any of the earlier wines in the series. The bouquet suggests density of fruit as well, without being especially forthcoming. the acidity is certainly present but integrates quite well with the darker raspberry fruit. Fair length. Drink from 2030-2036.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Region

Chapelle Chambertin

One of the nine Grand Crus vineyards within the Gevrey Chambertin area. Chapelle-Chambertin's vineyards are on gentle slopes, sheltered from the elements by woods to the north. The thin rocky soil forces the vines to work hard. The exceptional wines produced in Chapelle-Chambertin are complex, powerful and incredibly long-lasting.
