  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

  • En Primeur wines can only be purchased In Bond. On arrival in the UK these wines can either be stored In Bond in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse or delivered directly to you. When you decide to take delivery, Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate become payable.

    The 2024 Cornas La Geynale hails from the glass with intense peppercorn, crushed rocks, fleshy tones and precisely ripe blackberry. Dried violets and earthy tones add more aromatic layers. Built like a skyscraper, the 2024 is a serious La Geynale in the making, lifting the finish with stupendous vitality. I can't wait to taste it once it's bottled.

    A profound nose of cherries, crushed raspberries, roasted meat, cigar box, black pepper, warm spices and some bark and leather. Medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins. Expansive and spherical. Ample but refined in texture, with perfectly integrated structure at the edges and a vibrant, focused midpalate showing a bright, stony and peppery dimension. Quite spectacular for the vintage, with a very long, flinty finish.

    A herbal and crunchy nose, smoked meat and ash. A wonderful coolness on the palate is supported by these herbal notes, wet stone, sweet spice and delicious, refreshing acidity. Such energy here with a wild note and delineated fine tannins. Wonderfully put together and has effortless energy and sense of purpose. The fruit is sweet and juicy and the finish is layered and complex.

    Brilliant aromatics of blue fruits, fig, blood orange, pepper, and violet notes emerge from the medium-bodied 2024 Cornas La Geynale, which has a concentrated mouthfeel, building, ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. This reminds me of a great vintage of Clape Cornas! It sees a lot more stems and comes from the oldest vines of the estate, and it's going to need 4-5 years of bottle age. It's up there with the crème de la crème of the vintage.

This most southerly appellation has long been lost in the shadows by the limelight of its more glamorous neighbours. It has suffered from an archaic (and entrenched) reputation of producing tannic, dense wines that need many years to come around. Yet for a long time, this has not been the case. Many of Cornas' wines are produced from slopes of excellent reputation, known for their well drained steep terrains as well as their sheltered exposures from cold northern winds. Due to this micro-climate of sorts, it usually produces riper wine than the more northern appellations in colder vintages. Cornas is one of the most underestimated appellations which can at times challenge Hermitage.
