The Monthly Six | September Recommendations

With the evenings beginning to draw in, and if you find yourself naturally reaching for wines with a little more depth, stay on for September’s exciting Monthly Six.

We begin in Italy with a Sauvignon Blanc from our long-time favourite, Sesti, paired with a Syrah that stole the spotlight at our recent Waddesdon Portfolio Collection tasting. From there, we move into Burgundy: a brilliant Mâcon from Puligny royalty Jean-Marc Boillot, alongside an elegant Pinot Noir from Mercurey. And finishing on special bottles that punch well above their weight: a decadent, mineral-laced Pouilly Fuissé from Château de Fuissé, followed by a Bordeaux blend from the producers behind Le Pin - another charmer at the table.

Perfect for good food, great company, and that in-between season mood.

    A relatively new cuvée having historically been blended into the domaine’s vieilles vignes cuvee. Manu decided to separate it out, highlighting the individuality of the local hamlet’s style. Surprisingly broad shouldered, with an ample, full-bodied mouthfeel and excellent fruit concentration. Great length.

    The estate’s flagship Pouilly Fuissé; fruit is sourced from forty different parcels, which are made up of a combination of clay, marl, and limestone. 50% barrel fermented, with the rest in tank, this is everything you could want from a Pouilly Fuissé: fresh lemon and lime on the nose with some ripe red apple. A beautiful round creaminess on the palate softens the bright acidity and is so moreish. Perfectly balanced with a long full finish.

  • IN BOND prices exclude UK Duty and VAT. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries. Duty and VAT must be paid before delivery can take place.

  • RETAIL prices include UK Duty and VAT. Wines for UK delivery can only be purchased this way.

  • Duty Paid wines have been removed from Bond and cannot subsequently be returned to Bond.  VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. These wines must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

  • En Primeur wines can only be purchased In Bond. On arrival in the UK these wines can either be stored In Bond in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse or delivered directly to you. When you decide to take delivery, Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate become payable.

Tax status

  • IB: In Bond. These wines have had no UK Duty or VAT paid on them. Wines can be purchased In Bond for storage in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse, or for export to non-EU countries.

  • DP: Duty Paid. Wines for immediate UK delivery must be purchased Duty Paid. VAT is payable on Duty Paid wines. Wines which have been removed from Bond cannot subsequently be returned to Bond. They must remain Duty Paid but can be purchased as such for storage subject to VAT.

  • EP: En Primeur. These wines are lying in the Domaines’ cellars until shipping. They can only be purchased In Bond. On arrival in the UK these wines can either be stored In Bond in Private Reserves or another bonded warehouse or delivered directly to you. When you decide to take delivery, Duty and VAT at the prevailing rate become payable.
