  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2026, Score: 94-96

Really soft and inviting red fruit nose. Sumptuous and appetising, with soft raspberries and strawberries, glossy plums and some cedar and sweet spices. The tannins are smooth and supple, with a fabulously long finish that really fans out and persists. An utterly charming wine, already feeling very complete, and strutting a bit ahead of its stablemates at present.

  • Neal Martin, May 2026, Score: 92-94

The 2025 Clerc Milon was picked from September 3 to 19 and matured in 55% new oak. The oak shows a little more than the d'Armailhac at the moment, though that will be subsumed with time. I suspect it will need longer bottle age to fully integrate. The palate is very rounded and supple on the entry, a mixture of red and black fruit, a little white pepper and tobacco, gaining more weight towards the finish with a sustained aftertaste. I feel this might have the edge over the d'Armailhac this vintage - let's see. Drink 2032-2050

  • Wine Advocate, April 2026, Score: 93-95

The 2025 Clerc Milon has turned out beautifully, offering up notes of dark berries, petals and orange zest, framed by a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with lively acids and a chalky finish, it's a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Carmenère and Petit Verdot.

  • Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Score: 92-94

The 2025 Clerc Milon is powerful and explosive in the glass. A rush of dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mocha, new leather and a kiss of new oak makes a strong first impression. Supple and quite potent, with tons of energy, the Clerc Milon is impeccable in 2025. Drink 2033-2045

  • Jancis Robinson, May 2026, Score: 16.5/20

Dark fruit with a chocolate note. Broad, dense and layered on the palate, the structure firm and imposing. Chalky tannins on the finish provide freshness. A touch robust but should round out. Drink 2032-2045

  • Jane Anson, April 2026, Score: 95

Captures the muscular leanness of the vintage, coupled with great intensity and depth, waves of cloves, red liquorice, dark autumnal fruits, huge sapidity, coffee bean and cappuccino, clear richness with creamy weight through the mid palate. 3.78 pH. Harvest September 3 to 19. 55% new oak for ageing. Estate signature. 3.78ph.

Region

Pauillac

Due south of St Estèphe lies the appellation of Pauillac, the king of Left Bank communes. It is home to three first growths as well as a plethora of other classified growths. Pauillac's renowned well-draining, gravelly soils enable its dominant grape Cabernet Sauvignon to reach fantastic heights of complexity and concentration. As a result, Pauilac's wines tend to be full-bodied with compact tannins and good freshness. Its aromatics are often what one associates with classic Bordeaux: pencil shavings, black currant and occasional mint. Some of the most famous châteaux of the commune are Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Pichon Baron, Pichon Lalande and Lynch Bages.
