  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2026, Score: 92-94

“No extremes, this is a vintage of harmony and balance” says Saskia de Rothschild. The 2025 Duhart feels a little understated compared to the flashiness of some of its neighbours in this vintage, much more classically reserved. There is an inviting nose of cassis, violets and spice however, with a stony minerality. What is most captivating however is the invigorating freshness. There’s a brilliant drive to this wine, which will help it flesh out further in bottle.

  • Neal Martin, May 2026, Score: 92-94

The 2025 Duhart-Milon was picked from September 4 to 22. It has a very delineated and quite mineral-driven bouquet, very focused with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled tannins, layered graphite-infused black fruit and a strict and linear, sapid finish that could only come from Pauillac. Almost a minimalist Duhart-Milon in some ways, but less is more. Drink 2030-2055

  • Wine Advocate, April 2026, Score: 93-95

A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, the 2025 Duhart-Milon is a lovely classic in the making, offering up notes of wild blueberries, cassis, rose petals and orange zest, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, pure and polished palate that's lively, harmonious and suave. It checks in at a modest 12.5% alcohol.

  • Antonio Galloni, April 2026, Score: 92-94

The 2025 Duhart-Milon offers a captivating mix of brilliant red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate and wild flowers. Readers will find a Duhart that bristles with energy. The purity of the flavors is just captivating. It's one of my favorite recent vintages here because of its vibrancy and textural finesse. The blend is 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, picked from early to mid-September, always a few days later than at Lafite. Drink 2030-2040.

  • Jancis Robinson, May 2026, Score: 17/20

73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot. Certified organic. Cask sample. Long, linear and structured with very fine tannins. Creamy dark and red fruit. Freshness as well. Drink 2032-2045

  • Jane Anson, April 2026, Score: 94

Fragrant and floral on the opening, with chalky tannins and a gorgeous lift through the palate, showing crayon, raspberry, cassis and cherry pit. There is a delicacy and finesse evident in this Duhart, very pretty, with a less powerful structure than the 2022 vintage. 3.77ph. 27hl/h yields. Rain in this part of Pauillac saw 80mm over Easter then nothing until 25mm on June 22, and 30mm end of July, so two very important moments to counter the heatwave. Then temperatures cooled until August 11-15 before spikes of real heat, 40+C, until the summer broke at the end of August with 55mm of rain, then another 60mm up until the harvest. Harvest started September 2, same as in 2022.

Producer

Château Duhart-Milon

Owned since 1962 by the Rothschilds of Château Lafite, this wine is often overlooked. Yet it usually comes through with impressive results, its style replicating its more renowned big brother with outstanding purity and finesse.

Region

Pauillac

Due south of St Estèphe lies the appellation of Pauillac, the king of Left Bank communes. It is home to three first growths as well as a plethora of other classified growths. Pauillac's renowned well-draining, gravelly soils enable its dominant grape Cabernet Sauvignon to reach fantastic heights of complexity and concentration. As a result, Pauilac's wines tend to be full-bodied with compact tannins and good freshness. Its aromatics are often what one associates with classic Bordeaux: pencil shavings, black currant and occasional mint. Some of the most famous châteaux of the commune are Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Lafite Rothschild, Pichon Baron, Pichon Lalande and Lynch Bages.
