Following the success of our Bourgogne Chardonnay from Jean-Philippe Fichet, we are delighted to launch our new Bourgogne Pinot Noir specially produced for us by Domaine Jean-Pierre Charton in Mercurey.
The concept of this wine is exactly the same as that of our Chardonnay. It should reflect the very essence of Bourgogne through the beautiful fruit flavours of Pinot Noir and be accessible and ready for drinking following shipment. Developed in the same way as our Bourgogne Blanc, we approached one of our favourite producers, the young Vincent Charton, with this remit. He has absolutely nailed this wine; it is the absolute epitome of what we are looking for in red Burgundy and Pinot Noir.
Selected from specific vineyard parcels within their 9 ha estate and solely from Mercurey fruit, the grapes are hand-picked. The wine is matured in 100% French oak casks (20% new oak) and aged for 15 months before bottling. The wine balances the integrity of Mercurey fruit with the natural depth of a careful winemaking process, and has the bright red fruit character so typical of Pinot Noir from this region.

Bright shining cherry red colour. This is full of wonderfully open full red fruit aromas, raspberries and fresh cherries. In the palate these characteristic flow through to produce a beautifully accessible style. The juicy core and rounded tannins give depth and complexity on the finish. Drink 2016 – 2018
About Domaine Jean-Pierre Charton
Today, Domaine Charton is run by the young and dynamic Vincent Charton who was recently awarded young Burgundy winemaker of the year as selected by his peers in Bourgogne, and is now running this highly respected 9 ha domaine. Vincent’s father, Jean-Pierre, had been regisseur for the Bouchard Aine vineyards in Mercurey and can lay claim to having planted up to 150 ha of the appellation in his time as a vigneron. As a result he clearly knew where the best parcels lay as he developed his own small domaine. This has meant that Vincent has inherited some of the best kept vineyards in the appellation. As we can see in this fine cuvée, great vines grow delicious grapes and produce fine wine.
