Marsannay In Focus

Occupying the northern tip of the Côte d'Or, Marsannay is one of Burgundy's best-value appellations, producing bright, expressive and approachable Pinot Noir at refreshingly sensible prices.

Like much of the Côte de Nuits, Marsannay sits on limestone and clay soils. The limestone brings mineral precision, bright red fruit and perfume, while the clay provides power and structure. The wines are less tannic and powerful than the villages further south, making them approachable young, but the best examples are perfectly capable of ageing for a decade in bottle.
