2023 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne Jean-Marc Boillot
£360.00 In Bond-
Jasper Morris MW, October 2024, Score: 91
Lean lime colour. While the bouquet is quite hidden, this is a less clay influenced Garenne. There is enough fruit flavour on the palate, though not very much flesh, and fair persistence. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2024.

The highest of Puligny’s Premiers Crus, La Garenne sits below the treeline overlooking the village. So full of youthful energy with striking lemon sherbet scent, and a squeeze of fresh lime. The vineyard’s higher altitude is evident within the tightly woven linear chalky texture. Its naturally cooler position allows it to focus on fresh citrus fruits and a touch less exotic than some white wines this vintage!?

Jasper Morris MW, October 2024, Score: 93
Pale lemon and lime. The Referts has immediately more bouquet than Garenne, a fresh white orchard fruit. This builds steadily on the palate, with considerable distinction, excellent energy, and fresh acidity. Stylish and long. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Oct 2024.

A lower lying Premier Cru in Puligny with a combination of clay and rocky, stony soils. This wine is always bold, complex, and long, and is a hugely sought after location amongst the growers in the village. A creamy, honeyed nose, with a hint of warm croissant. An opening impression of refinement gives way as the broader, more powerful structure builds on the palate. Tremendous length, and the orange zest on the finish gives a feeling of sweetness and zesty exuberance.?

Jancis Robinson, January 2025, Score: 17
Dusty citrus aroma. Notably more intense than the village Puligny, more depth and still with all the freshness it needs for balance. Firm, chewy and long. Satisfyingly complete. (JH)

Lemon and lime colour. The fruit comes across a little riper, with some plum skins. Notably generous on the palate but still with excellent acidity, an intriguing little touch of liquorice further back, quite complex. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Oct 2024.

GWL, December 2024
The vineyard’s close proximity to Meursault shines through in the naturally exuberant nature of this wine. A combination of clotted cream, pannacotta and lime zest lift all the aromatic sensations. Despite all the richness and generosity, it has a noticeable tension and underlying core of muscle. The finish is gorgeously hedonistic, with notes of buttered croissant and hazelnut and fabulous length.

2023 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes Jean-Marc Boillot
£475.00 In Bond £570.00 Inc VAT (£95.00 Per Bottle)-
GWL, December 2024
One of Puligny’s senior Premiers Crus and Lydie’s father, Jean-Marc’s favourite within the family’s portfolio of Premiers Crus. The complex scent of honeysuckle and white peach with notes of tarragon and celery salt is totally beguiling. On the palate, it is composed and refined; all the components are so beautifully integrated. There is lift, tension and a charming, sweet yellow fruit finish.?
2023 Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru Jean-Marc Boillot
£925.00 In Bond £1,110.00 Inc VAT (£370.00 Per Bottle)-
GWL, December 2024
Whilst Bâtard-Montrachet has the same substructure as its neighbour Le Montrachet, it has a greater proportion of topsoil. The impact is to produce a flamboyant, powerful and generous Grand Cru. Domaine Jean Marc Boillot has just under 1/5th of a hectare on the Chassagne boundary, so this wine is a real rarity, so we felt hugely privileged to be able to taste it this year with Lydie. This 2023 is a more discreet version than some years, with subtle aromas of lemon sorbet, jasmine and thyme. The wine flows carefully across the palate, quietly building in volume and richness, with characters of lemon curd and crème anglaise. This is an exceptional Bâtard, with a lovely saline freshness on the finish.
