2024 Chablis Jean-Paul Droin
£270.00 In Bond £324.00 Inc VAT (£27.00 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025
From a selection of around 40 separate plots, this wine is made only in stainless streel and is an ode to the classic Chablis style. Super fresh lemon and crisp apple with a touch of richer clementine citrus. This has a direct line of acidity and minerality that runs all the way through and is softened by very light and pretty florality. An incredibly classy village Chablis.

The 2024 Chablis is very neutral on the nose with light cooked apple scents. The palate is clean and fresh, but this is a bit simple with just a dab of blackcurrant leaf on the finish. Drink 2025-2029

Clear pale yellow. This is much more classical than the Petit Chablis, with evident purity of fruit, and a good acid balance. Nicely poised, working evenly across the palate Drink from 2026-2028. 4 stars

2024 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir Jean-Paul Droin
£396.00 In Bond £475.20 Inc VAT (£79.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025
Enclosed within the valley, this Grand Cru site enjoys summer heat and little air circulation, creating a broad and complex wine. Happily, Vaudesir only lost a third of is production this year, and Benoit has made a fantastic wine. Very mineral and very complex. Notes of walnut, orange blossom, stone fruit and gentle lychee play together on the mid-palate and are swept away by bright acidity and stoniness. Truly stunning.

Jasper Morris MW, June 2025, Score: 91-93
35% oak in the blend. Pale in colour and restrained in bouquet. Fresh melons maybe. Good tension on the palate, limestone energy, and fair persistence. An attractive wine though a little less dense than its fellow grands crus. Drink from 2029-2034. 3 stars.

2024 Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaillons Jean-Paul Droin
£195.00 In Bond £234.00 Inc VAT (£39.00 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025
Vaillons tends to be the prettiest and most open of the Chablis Premiers Crus. This is a warm site and is always harvested early to retain the balance of aromatic notes and freshness. Brilliant depth of flavours with citrus notes leading to ripe apricot and juicy yellow peach. A quarter is aged in barrel which adds to the long sweet finish. Perfectly accessible in its youth but will develop beautifully with age.

Neal Martin, January 2026, Score: 90-92
The 2024 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a comparatively strict and correct nose for this vineyard. It's stonier than I expected. The palate is more generous with hints of fresh apricot and peach. This is well balanced, pretty and quite persistent. Give it 18 months in bottle for the aromatics to open up. Drink 2026-2033

30% oak in the blend. A little more yellow in the colour, and a softer more opulent yellow fruit on the nose. Power up front, lighter behind, with lemon notes to finish. Drink from 2027-2030. 3 stars.

2024 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains Jean-Paul Droin
£225.00 In Bond £270.00 Inc VAT (£45.00 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025
Generally cooler than neighbouring Vaillons, with less stone and a higher proportion of clay in the soil, this is a richer and less overtly mineral style. Notes of rose, lemon posset and marmalade are complemented by a lick of creaminess and almond nuttiness. So much depth and energy in this wine make it a joy to taste.

40% oak. Glowing pale lemon and lime in colour. The Droin holding in Montmains is in a cooler spot than Vaillons, so picked a week later. Some flesh but matched by a little tension at the back. Attractive in its balance. Drink from 2027-2031. 3 stars
