Introducing Domaine du Pélican |
Marquis d'Angerville's Jura gem

Owner of Marquis d’Angerville, Guillaume d’Angerville is one of Burgundy’s great names, producing some of Volnay’s most celebrated bottles. In 2005, a blind tasting of a Jura Chardonnay from Stéphane Tissot sparked his interest in the region and led to the creation of Domaine du Pélican.

Since 2012, Guillaume has built the domaine to 15 hectares, including parcels from Jura legend Jacques Puffeney. His Burgundian influence is clear, but the wines retain a distinct Jura character: Chardonnay is raised in Burgundian barriques, Savagnin in 500-litre casks, with regular topping-up to preserve freshness rather than encourage oxidative styles.

We’re delighted to offer the Chardonnay 2020 and Savagnin 2019 from Grand Curoulet, one of the Jura’s most distinguished sites. Its north-facing, grey-marl slopes give the wines remarkable coolness, tension and finesse. Burgundian precision meets Jura terroir - we strongly urge you to give these wines a go!

Yellow apple and quince complement cooler citrus fruit, with a white flower hint. Taut acidity keeps the palate focused and it finishes with lime pith, tingly sherbet and flinty minerality. A Burgundian breadth and texture with a certain Jurassic je ne sais quoi! Drink 2026-2032.

There is an unctuous stone and tropical fruit nose of ripe apricots, leading into a fresh and bright palate with lemon peel and pink grapefruit. A mouth-puckering salinity drives the finish, with wet stone and a touch of toast. Layered and ample yet with zingy, lively acidity, this is absolutely delicious. Drink 2026-2032.
