WINE MAKER | Fabrice Bandiera
A native of Bordeaux's Entre-Deux-Mers region, Fabrice Bandiera comes from a family of winegrowers in Castelvieil. Fabrice discovered his vocation at a very young age. His studies were perfectly adapted to his chosen field, which he went into with great enthusiasm, soon after receiving his diplomas. After working at the family property, he joined the Cazes and Axa Millésimes estates in 1992, and was involved in all aspects of vineyard and cellar work. This experience at such prestigious estates as Lynch-Bages and Pichon Baron instilled in him the virtues of rigour and professionalism. He joined the team at Château des Laurets in 1996 as a cellar worker before being promoted to Technical Director in 2002. Fabrice Bandiera has helped the Edmond de Rothschild family's estate wines go from strength to strength for over 20 years, upholding their traditional expertise.
THE VINEYARD
The vineyard benefits from the same clay-limestone soils as neighbouring Château des Laurets. The estate, encompasses 11.5 hectares of this land and is continuing to explore its terroir and its potential by announcing new creative ambitions. With its new cuvée EVE (named after Benjamin and Arianne de Rothschild’s daughter), Château de Malengin is breaking free from Bordeaux codes to reveal another side to its personality and begin its stylistic revolution. Moving away from barrel aging, these wines are aged for 12 months in clay amphorae giving a very contemporary, fresh fruit and crisp profile.
