RIMAPERE | MARLBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND

Born out of Benjamin de Rothschild’s desire to create a leading Sauvignon Blanc, the Rimapere estate in Marlborough, New Zealand was chosen for its exceptional terroir and climate. The name of the property was a deliberate choice: it means “five arrows” in Māori and simultaneously honours the Rothschild family’s emblem and traditional New Zealand culture.

WINE MAKER | Anne Escalle

WINE MAKER | Anne Escalle

Anne Escalle was born in the Rhône Valley to wine & food enthusiast parents. From a young age, her best memories have always been linked with fine wine and fine food. Her classic scientific studies helped her to join reason with passion with a Master in Viticulture & Winemaking at the ENITA de Bordeaux.

After a quick detour on a banana plantation in Cameroon, she came back to her passion for wine and settled in Languedoc Roussillon for 10 years, as a viticulturist consultant. She learned a lot with hundreds of vineyards & wineries over such a diversity of varieties and terroirs. In 2007, she moved with her young family to New Zealand, where they all fell in love with the kiwi way of life and the beautiful terroir. She is also the very proud mum of 2 boys and enjoys cooking with her husband and a glass of wine.

THE VINEYARD

THE VINEYARD

Rimapere enjoys an incredible terroir. The vineyard comprises 24 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc that are ideally situated on the prestigious Rapaura area, known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, where the alluvial soil comprises mainly pebbles and gravel. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, following the principles of regenerative and organic viticulture and will be fully certified in 2024 vintage. This area’s cool climate is perfect for ripening high quality Sauvignon Blanc grapes and providing them with their typical lemon and grapefruit flavours, together with crisp acidity.
