Robert Parker, August 1995, Score: 88
The finest wines Mongeard produced in 1993 are the Richebourg and Grands-Echezeaux. The medium dark ruby-colored Richebourg displays a complex nose of flowers, red and black fruits, and high quality, smoky, toasty new oak. Although medium-bodied, with very good flavor extraction, the wine's shrill acidity and high tannin level kept my score low. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and hope that the mid-palate and finish fill out. If they do, this may turn out to be an outstanding wine. It should last for 12+ years. Drink 1997-2007
