This is extremely ripe, indeed ripe to the point of displaying a slightly roasted quality that leads to big, powerful and very robust and muscular full-bodied flavors that ooze a cherry jam character. This is long and mouth coating and while it's particular, it's also complex and very long. Drink: 2011+.

I clearly misjudged this wine because while it is extremely ripe, the roasted quality it displayed from cask has disappeared and been replaced by surprisingly fresh aromas, at least in so far as anything is extremely fresh in 2003. The flavors are big, powerful, very robust and muscular with a full-bodied character that oozes cherry jam and a textured, mouth coating and exceptionally long finish. This is a seriously impressive wine and one that will age for years to come.
