Domaine Armand Rousseau
Domaine Armand Rousseau in Gevrey Chambertin is one of the finest domaines in Burgundy, and an icon of the international fine wine world. The domaine was established in the early nineteenth century, with the winery and cellars situated in the heart of the village, near the thirteenth century church.
Armand was an early adopter of domaine-bottling, taking up the practice from the 1930s. The estate grew over the years, with such additions as Charmes Chambertin (1919), Clos de la Roche (1920) and Chambertin (1921). His son Charles joined in 1945 and followed in his father’s footsteps, continuing to expand the Domaine with an empahisis on Grand Cru land. In the 1980s, two new vaulted cellars were dug to increase capacity. Charles's son, Eric, was the next generation to join the family business in 1982, and he continued to improve, enlarge, and upgrade the cellars. Eric’s daughter, Cyrielle, joined the family domaine in 2014, and they look ever-forward.
