Goedhuis, November 2009
A restrained, muscular wine with sweet, dark fruit and velvety tannins. Olivier used 60% whole bunch fermentation which has no doubt contributed to its brooding temperament. An incredible wine with all the class you expect from Domaine de l’Arlot.

Antonio Galloni, May 2011, Score: 92
The 2008 Nuits St. Georges Clos des Forets St.-Georges is a gorgeous wine. Here the freshness of the vintage plays off the warmth of the site nicely. The 2008 is naturally less extroverted than the 2009 tasted alongside it, but the wine nevertheless impresses for its cool, mineral-laced fruit and fabulous length. This is a fairly subtle wine that isn't quite ready to show all of its cards.

Burghound, January 2010, Score: 90-93
The fresh and densely fruited dark berry nose is quite ripe with an intensely earthy and sauvage character that extends to the impressively rich, even opulent full-bodied flavors that possess so much extract that there is a chewy aspect to the mouth coating and concentrated mid-palate, all wrapped in a long, powerful and dramatic finish. This is an impressive effort though note that patience will be required. Drink: 2018+.Notes: from an enormous 7.5 ha parcel of vines planted in the early 1950s.Comments: sweet spot outstanding!

Nuits Saint Georges
The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
