The town of Ladoix-Serrigny is the first wine producing village you reach whilst travelling south from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune. Beneath the hill of Corton, within the town, your eyes will be drawn to the Château de Serrigny, family home of the Prince Florent de Merode. The family have owned this property since the early 18th century and rarely, for vineyards, managed to avoid being broken up, which was so common during the revolution. The current Prince has lived there since 1954 and had Pierre Bitouzet oversee production for many years, before changing emphasis towards more deeper and more structured wines with the introduction of famous Didier Dubois as manager. His first wine was the 2001 and the domaine continues to improve in this direction.Read less
