Goedhuis, January 2011
A truly outstanding wine, with subtle wild forest fruit aromas, on the palate it balances intensity with refinement. It has an extraordinary balance where not one thing dominates another and the natural sweetness of fruit gives it class and complexity. A great wine.

Neal Martin, January 2011, Score: 94-96
Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. The Richebourg is decadent on the nose, very complex with dark broody fruits: dark cherries, blueberry and dark plum with a superb underlying mineralité. It seems to tighten up with aeration, offering more scents of Chinese Hoi sin and accentuated limestone. The palate is medium-bodied with structured, symmetrical tannic structure, very focused and extremely fresh, belying the power underneath and the sorbet-like finish (mandarin and citrus lemon.) Compact at the moment, but sure to unfurl over many years.

Burghound, January 2012, Score: 97
This is also on the restrained side with a discreet nose that features a spicy, cool, ripe and elegant nose of primarily blue and black pinot fruit and wet stone nuances that continue onto the focused, powerful and substantial broad-shouldered flavors that possess superb mid-palate concentration and flat out amazing length. Grivot told me that the 2009 version of his Richebourg is the best that he has ever made and from my perspective, I agree as even the amazing 2005 did not show as well at the same point in its evolution. In a word, brilliant. Drink: 2029+.Notes: from Richebourg proper.
