  • Goedhuis, January 2014

Not a single case of Les Lavières has been produced in 2013, as the vineyard was decimated by hail, making this stunning 2012 a very rare offering indeed. Renowned for having more finesse than many wines from the village, this has beautiful Morello cherry flavours. It is bright, crisp and clean with a lovely gentle sweetness on the finish. A gorgeous example.

Producer

Domaine Chandon de Briailles

The sibling team at this stunning domaine (Francois and Claude de Nicolay) is most definitely a winning one. Their biggest influence has been to convert the estate firstly to organic and now to biodynamic methods of viticulture and vinification. The wines focus on sensual flavours and refinement, these are not powerful, but the aged vines allow for wines of extraordinary texture and complexity.

Region

Savigny-lès-Beaune

The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
