  • Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 96-98

The 2014 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru has a reserved set of aromatics at first, however, it only takes a few swirls of the glass to reveal scents of cold stone (flint again), green apple and a touch of sea spray. As usual, there is impressive delineation here. The palate is so alive in the mouth. There is quite brilliant delineation here, almost overwhelming tension and nascent energy. It fans out wonderfully in the mouth with that acidic line keeping everything focused, and it is adorned with an incredibly persistent finish, with a mixture of salinity and spice on the aftertaste. This is simply stellar.

  • Burghound, June 2016, Score: 92-95

(from a .1144 ha parcel of 45+ year old vines that generally are not very productive as they typically give bunches with very tiny berries). A highly restrained nose reluctantly displays notes of honeysuckle, citrus, apple and pear suffused aromas. There is excellent delineation and richness to the tension-filled, racy and textured broad-shouldered flavors that culminate in a focused, textured and almost painfully intense finale. This is both very classy and stylish though it’s also very tight at present and is clearly going to need extended cellaring to reach its full maturity. Drink 2024+

  • Sarah Marsh, December 2016, Score: 19.6

The MLF has finished. This is floral and juicy and full. It has gras, but not density as it has airy notes above the concentration on the palate. It is elegant. Excellent intensity and minerality on the finish. A very long and refined finish. Drink from 2020/22
