The 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, picked on September 23 from the parcel in the middle of the vineyard, has a nicely defined, focused bouquet with dark berry fruit tinged with rose petals and a touch of mint. The 50% new oak is nicely integrated on the palate, well balanced and focused with good substance towards what is, at the moment, a structured and conservative finish. Give this 2-3 years. Drink 91-93.

Bright, dark red. Lovely pure cherry aroma lifted by spices and flowers. Suave and fine-grained, conveying excellent intensity and a restrained sweetness to the black cherry and licorice flavors. Finishes with a strong dusting of tannins and lovely lift. This wine from clay soil has a tendency to be brutal in the early going, notes Nadine Gublin, but this rather classic Clos Vougeot avoids hardness.
Clos de Vougeot is a Grand Cru appellation situated in the heart of the Cote de Nuits producing only red wines from the Pinot Noir grape. The vines are enclosed within a single walled vineyard built by monks in the 12th and 14th Centuries. With 47.54 hectares under vine Clos de Vougeot is the largest Grand Cru vineyard in the Cote d'Or.
