  • Neal Martin, December 2015, Score: 93-95

The 2014 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts has one of the most stoic and reserved aromatics from Carillon this year. This is holding everything back, but there is still that sense of interwoven mineralité and tension. The palate is clean and fresh, very linear with a wonderful build in the mouth. This has more roundness and depth than the 2014 Les Perrières, more fat, perhaps even quite Corton-Charlemagne-like in style, with an extraordinarily long, spicy lemongrass finish. This is yet another great wine from "JJ." Drink 2017-2038

  • Burghound, June 2016, Score: 91-93

(from a 1.2 ha parcel of 35+ year old vines). Here the nose is quite firmly reduced and unreadable. By contrast there is good freshness and excellent tension to the finer and more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that don’t quite possess the same volume and richness on the delineated and impressively long finish. The 2014 version of this wine is more powerful than usual yet it retains its typical finesse. Lovely juice. Drink 2021+

  • Sarah Marsh, December 2015, Score: 18.35

This has not finished the MLF. A generous palate with plenty of volume and gras. It is ripe with rich lemon flavours and plenty of concentration. Yet it is not heavy. It has lovely acidity under the palate which stretches the finish. Lovely note of minerality on the finish… It is an elegant Referts.
