  • Goedhuis, January 2017

A wonderfully giving cuvée, full of flamboyant loganberry and bright berry fruits. In the palate there is a savoury touch, whilst a velvety texture persists beneath. It has a harmonious balance between richness and soft rounded tannins. Quite lovely.

  • Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 91-93

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Clos de l'Orme, raised in 50% new oak, has a slightly more backward bouquet than the Nuits Saint Georges Villages, even though the malolactic finished a little earlier. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, slightly grainy tannin. There is a slight reduction here, but it dissipates and there is wonderful freshness and precision here. Superb, especially for a "mere" village cru. Drink 2018-2030

  • Burghound, January 2017, Score: 89-92

A perfumed, airy and elegant nose features the essence of red cherry, floral and soft spice-scented aromas. The lilting and wonderfully refined flavors dance across the middle weight flavors that terminate in a complex, balanced and dusty finale where a hint of bitter cherry arises. This beautiful effort is textbook Chambolle and highly recommended. Outstanding. Top value. (89-92)/2022+

Sylvain Cathiard is one of the top growers in Vosne Romanée, a region not shy of exceptional talent. He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less

Region

Chambolle Musigny

The wines of Chambolle Musigny are like no other. They can be superbly delicate, yet mindblowingly complex. Of all the northern Burgundy appellations, they are the most ethereal, and as a result the most feminine. Most of the Chambolle Musigny vineyard area is encompassed in its Village and Premier Cru appellations including the robust Beaux Bruns, the splendidly mineral Le Cras and the poised yet powerful Les Amoureuses. It produces only two Grand Crus - the round and rich Bonnes Mares which it shares with Morey St. Dénis, as well as what could be described as the Stradivarius of grand crus, Musigny.
