Decanter, October 2017, Score: 97
The Mugneret sisters set the standard for what is possible in the Clos Vougeot, and their 2016 is only the latest instalment in a long series of great wines. Aromas of rose petal, plummy fruit, rich soil, incense and spice mingle in an incipiently complex bouquet, judiciously framed by new wood, 70% new. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, pure and complete, with a deep core of sapid fruit which cloaks its ample structural chassis of fine tannins, succulent acids and superb length. The sense of effortless harmony marks this out as one of the wines of the vintage (WK).

Jasper Morris MW, October 2017, Score: 93-96
40% down in volume. Also 70% new wood. Fairly deep dense purple. A fair amount of energy to this, but it is quite discreet for Clos Vougeot. Then a wave of fruit floods across the palate. Much more intensity late on rather than early. Plenty of oak too, but together they are happy partners and very persistent. Here comes the wine!

William Kelley, January 2019, Score: 97
The 2016 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru confirms its brilliant showing from barrel, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, orange rind and peony that mingle with savory bass-notes of espresso roast, dark chocolate and subtle grilled meats. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with immense depth at the core, a magical sense of completeness, a satiny chassis of tannin and a long, penetrating finish. Broad-shouldered but elegant, this very Clos Vougeot is very impressive indeed.
