  • Goedhuis, December 2019

Les Boudots is the most northerly premier cru of Nuits St Georges, neighbouring Vosne Romanée’s Aux Malconsorts. It has the characteristic power of the vineyard, with some Nuits St Georges muscle. Dense purple colour, this has lovely summer pudding flavours. A wine with a firm tannic grip, but the overall weight of fruit controls this superbly. This has both power and depth.

  • Neal Martin, January 2020, Score: 92-94

The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges les Boudots 1er Cru, picked on September 8, has a superb bouquet of dark cherries mixed with raspberry preserve and damp earth and moss aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, very fine tannins and a precise, elegant finish that expresses its terroir beautifully. Superb. 2021 - 2038

  • Burghound, April 2020, Score: 90-92

Firm reduction allows nothing but discreet spice elements to be discerned. By contrast there is very good energy to the fleshy and rounded yet powerful medium-bodied flavors where the supporting tannins seem to be slightly more phenolically mature with a corresponding improvement in the sense of balance. Drink 2030+

  • Jasper Morris MW, January 2020, Score: 92-95

Clear bright powerful red. A racy brisk red fruit on the nose, building on the palate, 50% whole bunch does not show on the nose but appears at the finish, really enhancing the fruit. Picked at optimum ripeness, more red than black, with a beautiful backbone. Very good.

Region

Nuits Saint Georges

The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
