  • Goedhuis, December 2019

A very old vine cuvée which warranted two thirds whole bunch fermentation in 2018. As a result, it has enticing sweet wild strawberry aromas and flavours. The palate is intensely concentrated, and the tannins are fine. Delicious purity and great length. A lovely village cuvée.

  • Neal Martin, January 2020, Score: 88-90

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Village has a perfumed bouquet with pressed rose petal scents infusing the red currant and strawberry scents, the whole-bunch addition lending a subtle pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and quite strict and linear in style. There’s a little toughness on the finish that will need some bottle age to soften. A serious Vosne Village. 2022 - 2032

  • Burghound, April 2020, Score: 87-90

This too possesses a mentholated top note on the agreeably spicy aromas of mostly black pinot fruit and sandalwood-scented nose. The succulent but punchy flavors possess good depth though the finish is also slightly dry and raspy. Note that my projected range assumes that this will likely better harmonize with a few years of bottle aging. Drink 2026+

  • Jasper Morris MW, January 2020, Score: 91-93

From Maizières Basses, Ravioles, Jacquines and Genaivrières. Half whole bunch. Good deep colour, a somewhat sultry nose made more complex by the whole bunch component (50%). This really works on the palate with a delicious lift at the back, spicy notes and fair aftertaste. Needs a little more time.

Region

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
