Burghound, January 2021, Score: 92-95
A discreet but not invisible dose of wood does not detract from the purity of the elegant, airy and markedly spicy array of red currant, rose petal, lavender and forest floor scents. Somewhat curiously for a Ponsot wine, there is also wood on the palate of the succulent and refined middle weight flavors that flash first-rate tension and delineation on the compact and serious finish where a hint of mocha emerges. This too should amply reward extended forbearance. Drink 2037+

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
