Goedhuis, March 2024
Juicy, pure fresh red forest fruits, particularly sweet cherry, mix with dried rose and fragrant musk on the nose, leaving a trail of dried mint, pine forest, and spiced bitter orange. Flowing and fresh, with plenty of mouthwatering blood orange and pomegranate notes bursting on the palate, it is a crystal-clear expression of the 2020 vintage. We love its quivering tension and elegant filigree tannins, such a beautiful, finely wrought Barolo. Drink 2024-2028.

Kerin O’Keefe, November 2023, Score: 92
Crushed mint pressed rose and new leather aromas lead the way on Bruna Grimaldi’s 2020 Camilla. All about finesse and early enjoyment, this is the firm’s entry level Barolo made with grapes from different vineyards. It’s open-knit and already enjoyable, with ripe berry and dark spice flavors smoothed by polished tannins. Drink through 2028.
Region
Piedmont
Piedmont is located in the north western corner of Italy. Though several grape varieties are prominent such as Dolcetto, Barbera and Moscato, it is Nebbiolo that reigns supreme. It produces wines that are not particularly deep in colour, yet they are perfumed, powerful and can age for many years. Due to the ethereal nature of the Nebbiolo grape and the numerous single vineyard wines, many compare top examples to grand cru Burgundies of the Côte de Nuits.Mountainous, its vineyards are cut into the hillsides forming terraces reminiscent of the Mosel Valley in Germany and the northern Rhone Valley in France. The two most notable appellations are Barolo and Barbaresco.
