  • Goedhuis, December 2022

The domaine owns a substantial 1.5 hectares of this steep Premier Cru, situated on three terraces. Radiant crimson colour. A rich floral style, ample and generous, this has an easy confidence, held perfectly together by some layered earthy tannins on the finish giving persistence and energy.

  • Jasper Morris MW, December 2022, Score: 91-93

Fine bright purple. The bouquet is more open than the Pommard, showing an adequately ripe mixed red fruit. Delicious little red berries then with a crunchy limestone finish, still very much on the fresh red fruit with a few alpine strawberries. Drink from 2027-2033.

Château de Meursault has gone through some very exciting developments under the direction of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, whose family themselves own a highly respected domaine in Aloxe Corton. The vineyards under the Château’s ownership cover an extraordinary 65 hectares, from Savigny Lès Beaune through to Meursault. In 2019 the estate was certified as fully organic, quite an achievement for a domaine of this size, covering so many fine appellations. Against the backdrop of the property’s historical origins, with Cistercian cellars dating back to the 12th century, this dynamic domaine is investing extensively in both the vineyards and the winery, reaching new heights in quality. Stéphane’s wines are classically made. The Chardonnay is fermented in barrel and aged on lees for 12 months before bottling. The reds are beautiful wines, with all the dimensions to age.Read less

Region

Corton

The Grands Crus of Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay are shared between Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix Serrigny and Pernand Vergelesses. The vines for both are planted on the hillsides underneath the plateau of Corton's woodland forest. The majorityof Pinot Noir is planted in the southern and eastern sector where the soil is naturally rich with red iron clay giving additional body and power. Overall, the wines from these areas tend to be fruit forward and fleshy with a balance of round edges and fine concentration.
