  • Goedhuis, December 2023

The grapes for this cuvée were the last to be harvested, some 15 days after Fabien started picking on 5th September. This wine expresses the vibrant freshness one expects from the higher slopes of the Côte de Nuits, with charming raspberry and strawberry fruit flavours and a gentle alcohol level of 13%.

  • Burghound, January 2024, Score: 86-88

There is enough reduction present to push the fruit to the background. More interesting are the racy and delicious middleweight flavors that retain good detail and a subtle minerality on the dusty, inviting and refreshing finish. This should be approachable young after 2 to 3 years of keeping. Drinking 2025+.

Taking its name from founders Edmond Geantet and Bernadette Pansiot back in 1954, this domaine has grown from 7 to 22 hectares under the direction of their son Vincent Geantet and his children Fabien and Emilie. Having outgrown their historical cellars, they invested in a new winery, and their wines show all the advantages that this additional space provides. Traditionally, they de-stem 100% of their fruit and allow the must a few days of cool maceration prior to fermentation starting, which enhances the colour and aromatic content of their wines. Through a combination of old vines (plenty of centenaries in their vineyards), sumptuous fruit concentration and generous new oak they make a hedonistic style of Burgundy.Read less

Region

Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits

Located at the top of the slopes and on the plateau above the celebrated villages of the Cotes de Nuits a dozen or so villages can claim this appellation. Given their altitude full ripeness is not guaranteed every year, so Hautes-Cotes status is only awarded after tasting. Principally reds from Pinot Noir, with a smattering of whites, these wines can be delicious and excellent value from the best vineyard sites.
