Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2024
The domaine own a sizeable 2.6-hectare plot in this Premier Cru, which is named after the slabs, or ‘laves’, of clay that make up its soils, and some of their vines date back as far as 1956. The combination of clay soils and old-vine fruit gives a plush cuvée with plenty of character and complexity. Layered and intriguing on the nose, this wine sings with notes of Morello cherry, sun-ripened raspberries, dried wild herbs and a crunch of fresh black pepper. Sumptuous fruit sweetness is underpinned by a shimmering line of acidity and seamless, velvety tannins. A delicious expression of Pinot that is both generous and elegant.
Region
Savigny-lès-Beaune
The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
