  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2024

A very popular Premier Cru, thanks to its southerly exposure, contributing to a less rustic and more charming Savigny than some of its neighbours. The Tollot wine shows a perfect balance of young and old vine fruit. Uplifting aromas of raspberry and tayberry, highlight the domaine’s destalking policy. The fruit is ripe and round on the palate, with harmonised tannins. A gentle, satisfying impression of sweet ripe berry fruit on the finish.

  • Matthew Jukes, January 2025, Score: 17.5+

The Tollot-Beaut portfolio is packed with stars in 2023, and without pushing the boat out too far, this wine brings ample class and majesty while holding its QP status aloft. With four years to run before you open a bottle, this is a genuine treat, and it offers a Grand Vin flavour for way less than £50.

  • Jancis Robinson, January 2025, Score: 16.5

Intense crimson. Bright, sweet fruit, and lots of interest and charm.

  • Jasper Morris MW, October 2024, Score: 89-92

Another fine deep purple. Here the bouquet is noticeably less solar. Even so, there is a slight peachiness on the nose, but it is pure red fruit on the palate with weight and an attractive warmth. Excellent length, mostly on the raspberry. Succulent and satisfying.

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less

Region

Savigny-lès-Beaune

The picturesque village of Savigny-lès-Beaune, just to the north of Beaune, is a relatively prolific producer in Burgundian terms. Less serious than its neighbours, Pommard and Volnay, these are nonethless delicious wines - perfumed, delicate and elegant. A tiny amount of white is produced.
