  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, April 2025

Really alluring nose of blossom and yellow apple and yellow plum. This is very successful in this vintage, with a lovely weight of the classic Marsanne/Roussanne richness of fruit, with a touch of orange and quince giving structure to the lovely round stone fruit on the palate. Nice savoury touch with some blanched almonds and a fine bead of salinity running through it, providing a lovely freshness.

  • Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025, Score: 94

The 2023 Saint Joseph Blanc is a blend dominated by Marsanne with a smaller portion of Roussanne, brought up for 10 months in 10-15% new barrels. It showed beautifully, with a rich, honeyed apple, quince, and crushed stone-like minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, elegant mouthfeel and good acidity. While normally an equal split between varieties, the Roussanne didn't fare as well in this vintage, leading to more Marsanne in the blend. It should have 7-8 years of prime drinking, although I see no need to delay gratification either.

Domaine André Perret

André Perret needs little introduction: he is the master of light-footed, complex Viogniers from the granite soils of Condrieu. The appellation is known for its rich, mouth-coating whites best drunk in their youth, although André’s sophisticated, expressive examples also have the potential to age well in bottle too. Region

St Joseph

St Joseph is the longest appellation in the Rhone, extending along the western banks of the Rhône river from St. Péray to Condrieu. It produces both red wine from Syrah and white wine from Marsanne and/or Roussanne which tends to be early drinking and can be traditional or modern styled depending on the producer. Created in 1956, St Joseph is a young appellation which has seen extensive expansion of its vineyard area over the last 25 years. As a result, many producers feel that there is great potential in the quality of its terroir which has yet to be discovered. Due to its lesser known status, St Joseph wines often provide excellent value for money.
