  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

Lying at the top of the Clos just by the Château, in a parcel called “des Papes” reputedly reserved for the Popes of Avignon, the Drouhin Laroze hectare of vines is one of the very best positioned in Clos de Vougeot. A supremely concentrated wine, dense flavours of cassis and cherry and complemented by cinnamon and touches of liquorice. This has a broad and generous feel with power generated from the very small grapes that are harvested. Brilliant vibrancy keeps this wine marching forwards and will ensure delight when opened in years to come.

  • JMO, November 2025, Score: 93-95

All destemmed, which is normal chez Drouhin-Larose for Clos Vougeot. A much darker colour and showing a touch of oak alongside evidently ripe fruit. Clearly a certain amount of power here. Definitely a sense of sucrosity and some tannins to finish. Drink from 2033-2040.

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less
