  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

The fruit for this Grand Cru is all sourced from the En Orveaux section of the Echézeaux vineyard, but from a larger area than previously as the grower did not want to make wine from his own grapes. Benjamin was not afraid to take these grapes as he had so much confidence in the vintage. The site has only has very sparse topsoil above the limestone bedrock and sits in a naturally cooler spot. The 2024 nose is stunning with concentrated floral and ripe berry notes that are full of energy. Juicy cherry, black plum and sweet spices dance on the palate with an edge of blood orange and a driving mineral core that powers all the way through to the lingering finish.

  • Burghound, April 2026, Score: 92

(from En Orveaux). Moderate wood is present on the aromas of mostly exotic tea, spice, violet and a mix of red and blue pinot fruit. The quite supple but energetic flavors deliver fine length on the complex and balanced finale that is firm but not really compact. This is perhaps a bit light for a classic Ech but I like the balance and refinement. Drink 2032+

Region

Echézeaux

One of two Grand Crus within the Flagey-Echezeaux area right in the heart of the Cote de Nuits. Relatively large and consequently diverse for a Grand Cru, the better Echézeaux wines undoubtedly deserve this status. As always in Burgundy vineyard location and grower is critical.
