  • Goedhuis Waddesdon, December 2025

The vines for this cuvée are on average 60-years-old, bringing a wealth of complexity and depth to this village-level Gevrey. There are two sources of fruit, Les Crais and Les Coisettes to the north and west of the village. An abundant scent of freshly picked strawberries, with a great clarity of red fruits on the palate. The finish has a creamy sensation and hints of mocha and spice. A very fine village cuvée.

  • Burghound, April 2026, Score: 89-92

(from Les Crais and La Croix des Champs, both of which are on the eastern side of D974). Much like the Champ Salomon, the brooding nose is somber and inexpressive, offering only glimpses of its dark berry, humus-tinged earth and plenty of sauvage nuances. There is excellent volume to the suave, round and seductively textured medium weight flavors that evidence ample power on the sappy, balanced and highly persistent finale. This is a wine that could be approached after only 4 to 5 years yet reward up to 10. One to look for. Drink 2032+.

Region

Gevrey Chambertin

The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
