From the Rothschild family’s Rimapere estate in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, this Sauvignon Blanc reflects both precision and place. The 2024 vintage is very expressive, bursting with vibrant citrus - lime, ripe lemon, and grapefruit - layered with white flowers, passion fruit aromatics, and a touch of freshly cracked almond. A subtle minerality runs through the palate, full of wet stone and flint. The texture is elegant yet generous, with ripe acidity providing tension and drive. The finish is long, crisp, and marked by a clean, saline note that reflects the estate’s stony soils.

Born out of Benjamin de Rothschild's desire to create a leading Sauvignon Blanc, the Rimapere estate in Marlborough was chosen for its exceptional terroir and climate. The name of the property was a deliberate choice: it means 'five arrows' in Maori and simultaneously honours the Rothschild family's emblem and traditional New Zealand culture. Rimapere enjoys an incredible terroir. The vineyard comprises 24 hectares of vines that are ideally situated on the prestigious Rapaura site, known as the ‘Golden Triangle’, where the alluvial soil comprises mainly pebbles and gravel. Sauvignon Blanc is grown on 20 hectares and 4 hectares are kept aside for the cultivation of Pinot Noir. The vineyard is sustainably farmed, with an average age of around 15 years. This area’s cool climate is perfect for ripening high quality Sauvignon Blanc grapes and providing them with their typical lemon and grapefruit flavours, together with crisp acidity.Read less

Region

Marlborough

Situated at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, Marlborough is now the country'slargest wine region. Since the 1970's when Montana started investing hugely in the area, vineyardplanting has continued apace and the number of producers is now over a hundred. The unique combination of long, sunny days, cool nights and dry autumns enables the grapes to reach maximum phenolic ripeness while retaining their acidity. Its Sauvignon Blancs, as personified by the crisp, smokily aromatic Cloudy Bay, are now world-famous. Fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also grown.
