It shows the bright-fruited nature of the vintage beautifully and the rounded tannins provide satisfying grip that will allow this Rosso to age very well. Cellar for two years and enjoy.

    The 2024 Rosso di Montalcino, tasted from tank, shows ripe cherry and strawberry complicated by dried herbs and crushed stone. This is pure elegance, with seamless textures, bright wild berry fruits and tantalizing acidity. Hints of blood orange amass toward the close. The 2024 finishes potent but impossibly fresh, with amazing depth and a raspberry concentration. This gorgeous Rosso could easily be described as a baby Brunello. The 2024s from Le Potazzine are pure, elegant and remarkably balanced.Drink 2027-2034

Situated southwest of the town of Montalcino, the estate boasts some of the highest vineyards in the region at 507 metres. This high altitude mitigates any heat damage that may affect plantings at lower levels, while airflow from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west allows the vines to benefit from long warm days and cool evenings. In the winery, sole focus is on achieving harmony and finesse and, ever since the first vinification in 1993, Le Potazzine has been producing wines in the most natural way possible. Natural fermentation, a lengthy maceration process, and ageing in Slavonian oak, means that the wines of Le Potazzine are recognisable in their subtlety and matchless character.Read less

Region

Montalcino

Located southwest of Chianti, Montalcino came into its own in the late 1880s when local producer,Biondi-Santi, discovered a Sangiovese clone in his vineyard that was darker in colour than the rest. Its colour, however, was not its only attribute. It produced a wine with notable body, structure and length. He named it ‘brunello' meaning little dark one. This grape's genetic properties along with Montalcino's relatively temperate climate combine to create a wine stylistically different to that of more northerly Chianti. They are usually released approximately 5 years after the vintage following 2 to 4 years ageing in wood. The denomination of Riserva indicates a wine usually produced with more concentrated grapes than the traditional cuvéeand requires a minimum of one additional year of ageing.Today, Montalcino has become one of the most sought after appellations in the Tuscan region.
